add your coach

your own Claude, sitting in on your fights.

Every oskiewar match has a room, and the title screen prints its name under start. A coach is an agent that takes the room's read-only seat and reads the same frames every phone in the grandstand reads: every swing, every hit, what you were doing when it landed, how often you block, how you die. It never presses a button. While it is seated the title screen says coach linked.

Two lines

The coach is one file with no dependencies. Fetch it, hand it to Claude Code as an MCP server, and Claude has the tools.

curl -fsSLO https://oskiewar.com/coach.mjs
claude mcp add coach -- node ./coach.mjs

Then open oskiewar, read the room name under start, and tell Claude:

coach me in regga890

Codex and anything else that speaks MCP over stdio works the same way: codex mcp add coach -- node ./coach.mjs. Node 22 or newer is the only requirement.

What a coach can do

Build a map while playing

Open the map workshop from the tools icon in the top-right, and connect your coach to the room shown on the title. coach_workshop can reshape terrain and platforms, move and highlight spawns, drop items, undo edits, reset the round, or restart the level. The edited map stays in place between rounds.

Ask: Raise the middle platform, put a rocket launcher on the left, highlight the spawns, and restart so I can try it. Then: Save this as Moon Yard. Publish it and give me the play link.

Sign in to save private drafts or publish. Each save keeps a separate version; published versions have a permanent play link. The coach can list and load them later. Room editing is enabled by default. In network games, the host applies edits and streams the updated game to the other player. Edited sessions do not upload competitive replays; reload before returning to recorded matches. Ranked play is not implemented yet; this workshop is for casual rooms.

Things to say to it

What it can see, and what it cannot

The relay is public and match-scoped: anyone with a room's name can watch it, the same way anyone with the address can join the second chair. A coach reads fighter positions, states, scores and the moves on screen. It does not see your keyboard, your account, or anything outside the room. Attached coaches can edit your hosted room and save or publish maps through your signed-in account. The game counts coaches apart from human spectators — the antenna on the title means a machine is reading, not one more person in the stands. Up to four coaches can share one room.
