oskiewar · last updated 28 September 2026
You can play oskiewar without an account. Nothing below is sold, and none of it is used for advertising or to follow you around other apps and sites. This page covers the website, the iPhone and iPad app, and the Mac app.
Which app sends what
The iPhone and iPad app is the website in a window: it loads oskiewar.com, so this page applies to it, except that the app offers no sign-in and no "Add yourself". Those two sections below are about the website only. The Mac app runs the game on its own. It sends the launch count, finished rounds and live rounds. It has no sign-in, no product analytics and no photo upload.
Every time the game runs
- A launch count (apps only). Each time the app opens, it sends the app name, its version, the platform, whether this is the first launch, and a random install ID. The app makes that ID when it first runs and keeps it in its own settings, so deleting the app deletes it. We store it with a country for 35 days to count installs.
- Visit counts (website and iPhone/iPad). Rough visible time, which kinds of input were used, and milestones like "round completed". The ID in them lasts one page visit. They are kept 35 days. Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control turns them off. More in the measurement details.
- Product analytics (website and iPhone/iPad). A short list of match events (a round started, a round finished, someone watched), each with a few fixed labels. They go to PostHog, a service we use to count them. No names, handles, scores or screen recordings are sent. PostHog keeps an anonymous ID in the browser storage so repeat visits count once. Do Not Track turns this off.
- Crash reports. If the game hits an error, it sends the error message and where in the code it happened. The report is stored with the network address it came from, so we can tell one broken device from many. It carries no account.
- The dummy counter. Popping the training dummy bumps a shared counter. To stop floods, we keep a scrambled form of your network address with each pop for about two days.
- Your country. The game asks our server which country your connection comes from, to put a flag on your fighter.
Fights and recordings
- Live rounds. A round passes through our relay so the other fighter and anyone with the room's address can watch. That traffic includes positions, scores, each fighter's name and flag. The relay keeps the last frame in memory for about ten minutes after everyone leaves. Its server log records the connecting network address and browser type.
- Finished rounds are public. A completed round is saved as a recording: the inputs, the moves, the result, the fighters' names and flags, the screen size it was played at, and when. If you are signed in, your fighter's name is your @handle. Anyone can replay a round from its address, and a handle's past rounds can be listed. We also keep a scrambled form of the uploading network address, which is never shown, to stop spam. Recordings are kept until we remove them.
If you sign in (website)
Sign-in is optional. You type your email, Auth0 (the account service we use) mails you a code, and you pick an @handle. We keep your account and handle. The handle is public: it shows on your fighter, in live rounds and on recordings. Maps you save in the workshop are kept with your account.
"Add yourself" (website)
Tapping the fighter's head on the title screen offers to make a fighter from your photo. You have to be signed in, and nothing is taken until you tick what you allow and pick the file. The photo (and a voice clip, if you choose one) is stored by REGARDE, the consent service that holds your grant. The account is identified to it by a code made from your account, not by your email or handle. To make the fighter, a smaller copy of the photo is sent to OpenAI, which describes its look. OpenAI is asked not to keep it. Your fighter stays on your screen for local practice. It is not used in online matches, recordings, marketing or model training. Your material is kept until you press Withdraw my material. That deletes it and blocks any more use.
Stored on your device
Your light/dark theme choice. If you sign in, your sign-in session. If analytics are on, PostHog's anonymous ID. The apps also keep the random install ID described above.
Your say
To delete your account, a recording, or anything else on this page, write to mail@aesthetic.computer. For a recording, include its round address. Don't put personal information in handles or map names. Other people can see them.
Children
oskiewar has no ads and does not ask for age. Sign-in and "Add yourself" are not meant for children under 13.
Changes
If what the game sends changes, this page changes with it and the date above moves. Questions go to the same address.
